Back to the Future Section, Grey Corridor
OVAL – Complesso Lingotto Fiere
Via Giacomo Matteè Trucco 70, Torino
The proposal for the “Back to the Future” section, presented jointly by the Galleria Allegra Ravizza, Lugano, and Ca’ di Fra, Milan, is a project greatly encouraged by the Nanda Vigo Archive. It is directly supervised by the artist herself, who will also install the project. The proposal was the result of an archive research which concentrated on the decade from 1975 to 1985 with the aim of pinpointing the most significant and visionary exhibitions of Nanda Vigo. We are, then, proposing to reproduce exactly the same “Exotic Gate” exhibition that was held in the Galleria del Falconiere, Falconara Marittima (province of Ancona) in 1978, and its natural evolution in the show held at the Galleria Mercato del Sale, Milan, in 1983, represented by the works “Alfabeto Cosmogonico” and “Esplosione Cosmogonica”.
All the works presented, backed by historical documents, including the original catalogues and photographs, are the result of a single current of artistic-philosophical research into the cosmos.
This is the leitmotif that was begun at the end of the1950s and found its greatest expression in these very works, as well as the “pyramids” and the artist’s use of mirrors as a doorway to new dimensions.
For the occasion there will be produced a facsimile copy of the original catalogue, complete with projects and texts, by the Galleria del Falconiere.
