A TE LA PALLA
The Bounty Killart in collaboration with Este Ceramiche Porcellane
April 12th 2024, from 6pm to 9 pm
Via Gorani 8, Milan
On the occasion of Salone del Mobile 2024,
Galleria Allegra Ravizza is proud to present “A Te la Palla“
the first design object by The Bounty Killart
The creativity and aesthetics of The Bounty Killart meets the Art of the Table for the first time: made of fine ceramics, A Te la Palla incorporates within itself a not-to-be-missed and elegant service of plates and bowls assembled to compose a refined centerpiece sculpture created in collaboration with the historic Veneto-based company Este Ceramiche Porcellane, one of the oldest manufactures in Europe.
The same vision and attention to technique immediately created a strong understanding between the collective and the renowned firm, becoming the driving force for this new and extraordinary collaboration.
A limited and numbered edition, the sculpture mocks the celebrated character of Hercules by interweaving ancient aesthetics, classical myth, and the serious and playful irony typical of The Bounty Killart’s creations: Forced to momentarily rule the world in place of Atlas, Hercules, wrapped in his lion-skin cloak, is depicted on his knees, paradoxically crushed by the light weight of the large, semi-inflated ball he is carrying on his shoulders, and with a Fast Food sandwich in his mouth weighing down his breathing. With his head bowed, the dashing hero, famous for having overcome twelve impossible tests, is manifestly tired, fatigued, his tensed muscles revealing the strain he is undergoing, but the composition does not lose elegance and accuracy of detail, aided also by the refinement of the ceramic that shapes him.
Just as in the witty “Dialogo d’Ercole e di Atlante” (1824) from Giacomo Leopardi’s Moral Operettas, the globe in The Bounty Killart is also depicted deflated and drooping, a reflection of the degeneration in which humankind stalls today as in the Italian poet’s time.
On the occasion of Milan’s Salone del Mobile, on Friday, April 12, we are pleased to invite you to the presentation event of A Te la Palla, the sculpture-centerpiece that, together with the collection of plates and bowls that compose it, will set a sumptuous table set up at the company’s headquarters in Via Gorani 8 in Milan.
Accompanying this sumptuous table will be some of Este Ceramiche Porcellane’s historic productions and collaborations with renowned designers such as Alessandro Mendini and Gino Marotta.
Also on display for the occasion will be an important carpet by Jan Kath, one of the world’s most sought-after carpet designers, kindly on loan from Galleria Alberto Levi in Milan.
The exhibition will remain open until May 15, 2024 according to opening hours and/or by appointment.
